Aquifer findings to be presented

The Spokesman-Review

The latest findings from a three-year, $3.5 million study of the Spokane Valley-Rathdrum Prairie aquifer will be shared at 7 p.m Jan. 31 during a free Spokane Community College geology lecture in the Lair-Student Center auditorium, Building 6, 1810 N. Greene St.

Categorized as a “sole source” water supply, the Spokane Valley-Rathdrum Prairie aquifer is the primary source of water for more than 400,000 people living in and around Spokane and Coeur d’Alene.

Guy Gregory with the Washington State Department of Ecology will use the recent aquifer study to describe the size of the aquifer, its primary sources and its hydrologic interaction with the Spokane River.

For details, call SCC geology instructor Andy Buddington at 533-8017.
