Mead’s Dotson wins all-around at meet

Ashley Dotson claimed the floor exercise and all-around (33.4 points) for Mead (158.6) as the Panthers held off Shadle Park (149.25) Wednesday night during a Greater Spokane League four-way meet at Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls).

Callie Young won the uneven bars (8.1) and placed second in the all-around for Shadle. Ferris finished third with 135.3, followed by Lakeside with a 129.25.

Also in the GSL, Tabitha Ward led University (167.725) over host Central Valley (165.375) with victories in bars, balance beam and all-around (35.7). Maria Alderman posted a 9.05 on the floor for CV on her way to a second-place finish in the all-around.

Girls basketball

Jordan Harazin pulled down seven of Colfax’s 32 rebounds as the Bulldogs (12-2, 4-0) went on to beat host Freeman (11-3, 3-1) 54-38 in the Northeast A. Carley Heinen played 32 minutes and added 16 points for the Scotties.

Boys basketball

Led by Christian Casto’s 16 points and 11 rebounds, Freeman (10-4, 3-1 Northeast A) beat visiting Colfax (11-2, 3-1) 59-39 for its eighth win in the last nine games. Ben Aune netted 21 points for the Bulldogs while Scott Ferguson and Andrew Dresback scored 12 apiece for Freeman.
