Man charged with trying to rape child
A 24-year-old man was booked into jail early Saturday for attempting to rape a child, according to Spokane Police.
Andrew James allegedly got to the child by entering a north Spokane apartment through an unlocked door, according to police. But he fled when a relative of the victim arrived at the location.
Officers were summoned to the scene at about 2 a.m. and were able to track James down by following his shoeprints in the snow. After contacting several individuals at another residence, Spokane Police identified James as the suspect and booked him into the Spokane County Jail for attempted third-degree rape of a child.
