Financial aid workshop Sunday at NC

Treva Lind Correspondent

A workshop aimed at helping Spokane-area families wade through the paperwork for federal financial aid for college is set for high school students and their families at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

This first College Goal Sunday Washington kicks off in seven cities across the state. The Spokane location for all area high school students this year is North Central High School, 1600 N. Howard St. The three-hour workshop is free.

The program is designed to help students and families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, the form that is required to apply for federal financial aid for higher education.

Students should bring along their Social Security number and driver’s license (if any), as well as any financial records related to income (parents’ most recent income tax returns and/or last pay stub). Parents are strongly encouraged to attend with their children. But even with no paperwork, students and families can get help completing part of the FAFSA.

College Goal Sunday Washington is taking place in Seattle, Spokane, Tacoma, Everett, Olympia/Lacey, Pasco and Yakima. For more information, visit the Web at www.collegegoalsundaywa.org.
