Nearly a year after her Olympic hopes were ruined by a scary crash in downhill training, Lindsey Kildow finished second in a World Cup super-giant slalom Friday at San Sicario, Italy, on the same course used at the Turin Games.
Kildow came within 0.09 seconds of winner Renate Goetschl, of Austria, who finished in 1 minute, 24.90 seconds.

Figure skating
French win dance
Isabelle Delobel and Olivier Schoenfelder captured the ice dancing title by less than a half-point in Warsaw, Poland, giving France its second gold medal at the European Figure Skating Championships.
Russians Oksana Domnina and Maxim Shabalin scored 100.39 to the French couple’s 99.19 in the free skate finale, but still fell short of the title.
College basketball
ACC admits Duke error
The Atlantic Coast Conference admitted that a timing error was made in the closing seconds of No. 10 Duke’s 68-66 win over Clemson in Greensboro, N.C.
Officials restored too much time to the game-clock after Clemson’s Vernon Hamilton hit a 3-pointer to tie it with 1.8 seconds left. Duke scored on the ensuing possession by taking the ball the length of the floor for the game-winning layup as time expired.
“Notre Dame point guard Kyle McAlarney plans to return this summer to school and basketball following his suspension for a marijuana possession arrest, his father said.

Arkansas issues report
Arkansas’ storied track and field program has submitted a report to the NCAA outlining violations committed by a former assistant coach convicted last year of embezzlement, theft and mail fraud.
Arkansas, which has won 42 national championships in track and field and cross country, said the violations involved former assistant Lance Brauman, who resigned last year after his convictions.
“Greek sprinter Katerina Thanou, 32, is set to the return to the track after a two-year ban for failing to report for drug tests during the Athens Olympics.

UCLA hires coordinator
Jay Norvell, an assistant coach who helped Nebraska develop a prolific, well-balanced offense, joined UCLA’s staff as offensive coordinator.
