NBA: Wizards win, sit atop the East

Antawn Jamison scored a season-high 35 points and Gilbert Arenas had 25 to help the Washington Wizards hold off the Detroit Pistons 99-96 Friday night in Auburn Hills, Mich., maintaining the best record in the Eastern Conference.

Knicks 116, Heat 96: At New York, Jamal Crawford scored a career-high 52 points, leading New York to a victory over Miami.

Shaquille O’Neal returned to the starting lineup for Miami, scoring 11.

Cavaliers 105, 76ers 97: At Philadelphia, Drew Gooden scored 21 points and Cleveland, without injured LeBron James, who has a sore toe, rallied to beat Philadelphia.

Hawks 93, Magic 90: At Orlando, Fla., Joe Johnson scored a season-high 39 points as Atlanta beat Orlando.

Raptors 96, Celtics 90: At Toronto, Chris Bosh had 26 points to lead Toronto past injury-riddled Boston.

Hornets 88, Kings 84: At New Orleans, Desmond Mason scored 24 points to help New Orleans hold off Sacramento.

Bobcats 106, Lakers 97: At Los Angeles, Emeka Okafor had 20 points and 18 rebounds as Charlotte beat Los Angeles.

Spurs 112, Grizzlies 96: At San Antonio, Tim Duncan had 26 points and a career-best nine blocked shots, leading San Antonio past Memphis.

Rockets 99, Blazers 69: At Houston, Tracy McGrady scored 28 points and Houston beat Portland.

Suns 98, Bucks 90: At Milwaukee, Raja Bell scored 27 points to lead Phoenix past Milwaukee.

Jazz 116, Nuggets 111: At Salt Lake City, Carlos Boozer had 25 points and 19 rebounds, and Utah beat Denver despite losing Andrei Kirilenko to a sprained ankle.

Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Jackson violated his probation from his role in the 2004 Pacers-Pistons brawl for firing a gun outside a strip club, a judge ruled. Jackson faces up to 30 days in jail. … Sacramento Kings coach Eric Musselman pleaded no contest to driving under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested in October after his team won its preseason home opener. … New Jersey Nets star Jason Kidd filed divorce papers to end his 10-year union to Joumana Kidd. … Hornets owner George Shinn said he doesn’t believe he needs local investors to make the team’s return to New Orleans successful.
