Every fall, Washington voters face a ballot cluttered with measures that will or won’t become state law, depending on them.

The arduous process for submitting initiatives and many referendums to the voters calls for campaign workers to collect tens of thousands of signatures on petitions circulated around the state.

Some legislators think the task should be harder. Columnist Richard Davis weighs in on Wednesday’s Roundtable page.
