Unlike most household appliances, a television set needs to be hidden in plain sight. That’s because when it’s idle, no one wants to see it; but when it’s on, everyone wants a clear view. Designed to fit snugly in a corner, this TV cabinet project is the natural solution – it keeps the TV out of sight when not in use and it occupies space that’s normally wasted.

Made primarily of oak plywood (other woods will work), the cabinet features clean lines and a handsome finish that will blend with almost any décor. Inside, a 32-inch tall by 30-inch wide by 18-inch deep space holds your TV, while a removable shelf accommodates a DVD player or cable box. Under the TV bay, a big, full-extension drawer is perfect for DVDs, video games and remote controls.

Calling for all straight cuts and utilizing simple construction techniques, the cabinet is a good project for woodworkers of all skill levels. Although it requires careful measuring and cutting, full-scale drawings and detailed diagrams eliminate the guesswork.

The completed TV cabinet measures about 47 inches tall by 29 inches deep.

The Corner TV Cabinet plan, No. 864, is $9.95 and includes step-by-step instructions with photos, full-size traceable patterns, detailed construction diagrams, a materials list and cutting layout and a toll-free help line for project questions.

A package of television cabinet plans, No. C156, is $22.95 and includes plans for this project, a larger-scale television cabinet and an armoire-style entertainment center.
