The North Idaho College women’s basketball team received good news on the injury front.

Freshman guard Simone Jordan will probably miss two more weeks with a sprained knee, but should be back for the stretch run of the season and the Region 18 Tournament, coach Chris Carlson said Tuesday.

Jordan, who was sidelined as NIC lost twice to Salt Lake last weekend, averages a Scenic West Athletic Conference-leading 17.6 points per game and ranks in the top 10 in nearly every category. Jordan, of Portland, originally signed with Gonzaga.

The week before her injury, Jordan was the SWAC Player of the Week for scoring 36 points during a two-game sweep of College of Eastern Utah.

“Merritt Cameron, a 6-foot-3 center from Prairie High in Vancouver, Wash., has transferred to the University of Idaho from Concordia University in Portland, UI coach Mike Divilbiss announced.

Football

The Spokane Shock of arenafootball2 announced the 10th addition to their 2007 roster, a former Husky, lineman Brandon Leyritz.

Leyritz, 6-3 and 315 pounds, is a native of Bellevue, Wash., and played for the University of Washington from 2001-05.

Women’s tennis

Eastern Washington University junior Kerstyn Dolack was named Big Sky Conference Player of the Week after posting a 2-1 record in singles and doubles play during matches at Air Force, Northern Colorado and Colorado State.
