Indians slip past Dust Devils in 15
PASCO – Kyle Murphy led off the top of the 15th inning with a stand-up triple and scored on a sacrifice fly from Chris Gradoville to lead the Spokane Indians to a 7-6 win over the Tri-City Dust Devils in Northwest League play Saturday at Dust Devils Stadium.
The Dust Devils (4-8) roughed up Indians starter Michael Kirkman – scoring two runs in the bottom of the second inning and four more in the third to take a 6-0 lead.
Kirkman left the game after three innings trailing 6-0 and all six runs were earned. He allowed six hits and walked four.
Spokane got on the scoreboard with a run in the fifth.
Timothy Rodriguez singled to lead off the inning and scored on a double by Johan Yan.
Daniel Sattler, who relieved Kirkman to start the fourth inning, kept the Tri-City hitters at bay. He allowed just one hit in four shutout innings while striking out five.
Spokane’s offense got untracked in the top of the eighth against Tri-City relievers Kenneth Durst and Agustin Arias.
Durst started the eighth and surrendered a leadoff single to Renny Osuna. Ian Gac and Murphy followed with back-to-back one-out walks to load the bases and end Durst’s night. Arias entered and gave up a sacrifice fly to Rodriguez. Gradoville ripped a two-run triple and Yan capped the four-run outburst with an RBI single.
The Indians (5-7) tied the game with an unearned run in the ninth.
