Torres files grievance

Associated Press The Spokesman-Review

PITTSBURGH – Pirates reliever Salomon Torres filed a grievance against the team nearly four months ago, alleging he was induced into signing a below-market contract last year by promises the club would rent his baseball training complex in the Dominican Republic.

Torres is arguing he accepted less money than he could have made elsewhere because the Pirates strongly suggested they would rent one of two training centers for prospects. He claims there was an oral agreement that was not put into writing.
