Jasmine Miller of Post Falls has been accepted into Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla. She is a recent graduate of Lake City High School and is the daughter of Robert and Kathy Miller of Post Falls.

David Kobaly, a 2006 graduate of Timberlake High School, was named to Eastern Washington University’s winter quarter Dean’s list. He is the son of Don and Phyllis Kobaly of Spirit Lake.

“ Lakeland High School recently announced its students named to the National Honor Society. Students are listed by their grade level.

Hannah Vogel of Sandpoint High School will compete in August in Austin, Texas with the Four-Poet Spokane Slam Team.

Kristin Childers, a fourth grade teacher at Hayden Meadows Elementary School raised over $500 for The Kootenai County Police and Fire Memorial Foundation, through a math project that involved the entire school.

“ The following local students were recently awarded Robert E. Lee Scholarships and Robert Byrd Scholarships by the Idaho State Board of Education.

Robert E. Lee Scholarship: Daniel Pitts, Genesee School; Michelle Gustafson, Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy.

Robert C. Byrd Scholarship: Terence Lemke, Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy; Leah Almeida, Lake City High School.

Magen Daniels of Garwood Elementary in Rathdrum, Idaho, won first prize in a poetry contest sponsored by Parenting Magazine. She won a $1,000 savings certificate and $500 cash for art supplies.

“ Recent Sandpoint High School graduates Hope Rainbow and Thomas Harris each received $2,000 scholarships from The Bonner County Human Rights Task Force.

“ North Idaho College awarded the following instructors awards for their excellence and dedication in teaching.

Kristina Klassen, Psychology instructor, was awarded the 2007 NIC Faculty Achievement Award.

Brenda Johns, a part-time Communications instructor, was awarded the Adjunct Faculty Achievement Award.

Bill Cleavinger, Information Technology Sr. Systems Analyst and Programmer, was awarded a 2007 Staff Achievement Award.

Patricia Wheeler, Assistive Technology Access Specialist and fill-in as Center for Educational Access Interim Director, was awarded a 2007 Staff Achievement Award.

Mike Wolf, Physical Plant/Facilities Operations Lead also received a 2007 Staff Achievement Award.

Latisha Taylor, a recent graduate of Coeur d’Alene High School received a $750 Steve Omi Memorial Scholarship. Natalie Reighard, who also recently graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School received a $375 Steve Omi Memorial Scholarship. Both students were awarded the scholarships because of their athletic and scholastic accomplishments.

“ Seven local North Idaho College students and members of the Business Professionals of America recently attended and competed in the Annual National Leadership Conference in New York City.

Amanda Porter, Post Falls, placed first in Medical Office Procedures.

Danny Myers, Hayden, Idaho, placed second in CISCO Systems Administration, seventh place in Computer Network Technology.

Carmen Dawson, Hayden, placed third in Digital Media Production, and eighth in Graphics Design Promotion.

Dustin Smith, Athol, Idaho, placed fourth in Extemporaneous Speech, and seventh in Management, Marketing and Human Resources.

Velda “Cindy” Kuhn, Spirit Lake, Idaho, placed eighth in Advanced Interview Skills. She was also awarded the Outstanding Postsecondary BPA Ambassador Award for accumulating more service points than any other postsecondary BPA student.

Sean Lamphere, Coeur d’Alene, Myers and Dawson placed fifth in Web Site Design Team.

Jenny Rollins of Kellogg, Myers, Porter, Dawson, and Kuhn were each presented with an Ambassador Torch Award.
