Want to catch a glimpse of the nicest custom cars and hot rods around?

The Spokane area features some of the best anywhere. The professional and amateur builders from this area have a knack for doing things with cars that are rivaled only in places such as California – the so-called birthplace of the business.

Here is a list of events, with contact information, to be held this month in the Spokane and Coeur d’Alene area.

One of the most notable local events will be the 10th-annual Hot Rod Cafe River City Rod Run to be held in Post Falls on Friday through Sunday. Each year, it draws thousands of people and hundreds of cars from across the nation.

A lesser-known but important event is the Inland Northwest Car Club Council’s Downtown Scholarship Car Show to be held in Spokane on the evening of July 19. Cars of all types will line much of Riverside Avenue. The show is free to spectators, but participants are charged $5, with all proceeds going to the group’s scholarship fund.

The Road Knights of Davenport, Wash., stage a show each summer, with this year’s event to be July 21. That club has a rich history of involvement in rods and customs as well as in the rich tradition of area drag racing.

This July calendar is a presentation of the Inland Northwest Car Club Council. For more information, visit its Web site at www.incarclubcouncil.org.
