Time to dust off those goggles

Wish you could take a dip to cool off this summer, but you don’t know how to swim?

The Spokane County Parks and Recreation Department has the answer.

Lessons for everyone from toddlers to adults got under way last week, and more sessions are planned. Most lessons are on Monday through Thursday mornings, with makeup classes on Fridays.

Registration for the two-week July 9-20 session will be from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. todayat Holmberg Pool, 9615 N. Wall St., and at the county’s water park at 18120 N. Hatch Road. The cost is $30.

At the same time and for the same price, adults may register to swim laps July 9-20 at Holmberg Pool from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. Mondays through Thursdays.

Additional lessons and lap-swimming sessions are scheduled July 23 through Aug. 3 and Aug. 6 through Aug. 17. Registration will be taken at the pools from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. on the Thursdays before each session, July 19 and Aug. 2.

Deadlines for mail-in registration for the final two sessions are July 13 and July 27.
