Hometown: I was born in Springfield, Ill., and moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1977.

Occupation: I’m retired. I was a residential and commercial carpenter.

Family: My wife, Kay, and I have four boys and two girls. They’re all married and have children of their own; we have 10 grandchildren.

Hobbies: I used to enjoy woodworking, but I have too many bad disks in my back to do that now.

What do you like about North Idaho? What’s not to like? It’s beautiful, really God’s country.

What do you like or dislike about the current season? It doesn’t get warm fast enough.

Favorite music: Merle Haggard and other country-western musicians

Favorite TV show: “Bonanza”

Favorite movie: “Flags of our Fathers”

Favorite spot in North Idaho? Why? The Silver Valley. I love the gondola ride at Silver Mountain. From the top, you have marvelous views of the mountains and valleys. It’s breathtaking.
