Indians 9, Blue Jays 4: At Toronto, Casey Blake hit a three-run homer to help Cleveland beat the Blue Jays. Blake’s homer was one of four by the Indians, who also got solo shots from Victor Martinez, Grady Sizemore and Trot Nixon.

White Sox 3, Twins 1: At Chicago, Paul Konerko provided all the White Sox offense with a three-run homer to put Chicago over Minnesota. Mark Buehrle allowed six hits over eight scoreless innings for the White Sox. Bobby Jenks picked up his 23rd save in 26 chances.

Angels 2, Yankees 1 (13): At New York, fill-in first baseman Miguel Cairo made two errors on one play in the 13th inning, allowing Los Angeles to edge the Yankees. Cairo, subbing at first for ailing Andy Phillips, made three of New York’s five errors.

Royals 8, Devil Rays 7: At Kansas City, Mo., Mark Grudzielanek’s RBI single off Shawn Camp with two out in the ninth inning lifted Kansas City to a wild victory over Tampa Bay. Gil Meche gave up six hits and five runs in six innings. He walked four, all in the three-run fourth inning.

Orioles 3, Rangers 0: At Arlington, Texas, Erik Bedard struck out 15 to tie a franchise record and allowed two hits in his first career shutout, leading Baltimore over Texas. Bedard faced the minimum 27 hitters. Bedard struck out the side in the second, fifth and ninth innings.

Tigers 3, Red Sox 2 (13): At Detroit, Ivan Rodriguez’s two-out RBI single in the 13th inning gave the Tigers a win over Boston. David Ortiz homered, doubled and walked four times – three intentional – for Boston, but the Red Sox left 12 runners on base and didn’t score after two first-inning runs.
