Thursday’s A.L.results
Tigers 4, Twins 3: At Minneapolis, Brandon Inge’s 10th-inning double off Joe Nathan drove in Timo Perez, pushing Detroit past Minnesota to complete a three-game sweep of the defending Central division champions. Placido Polanco and Gary Sheffield hit back-to-back RBI doubles in the seventh inning for the Tigers, who have baseball’s best record.

Blue Jays 3, Yankees 2: At New York, Greg Zaun’s RBI single in the seventh inning broke a 2-all tie and gave Toronto a win over the Yankees, ending New York’s five-game winning streak. Dustin McGowan (6-5) earned the win for the Blue Jays, allowing two runs on four hits in seven innings.
White Sox 4, Red Sox 2: At Boston, A.J. Pierzynski went 3 for 4 with three RBIs, leading Chicago to a victory over plummeting Boston. Javier Vazquez (7-5) allowed two runs, nine hits and two walks while striking out five in 6 1/3 innings to win his fourth consecutive decision.
Indians 7, Rangers 5: At Arlington, C.C. Sabathia became the first 13-game winner in the major leagues this season despite another shaky start, getting help from Grady Sizemore’s long tiebreaking home run in Cleveland’s victory over Texas.
