Cheney Fire acquires heart monitors
The Cheney Fire Department recently purchased two refurbished monitors funded through a September 2006 emergency medical services levy.
The city spent $17,500 on the equipment, which is expected to help medical personnel treat patients with cardiac problems.
The Zoll M Series devices capture an irregular heart rhythm that can be documented and printed onto a strip of paper, allowing doctors to view the rhythm problem at the time the patient is experiencing it, according to the city’s Web site.
The technology allows physicians to diagnose conditions that occur in the field rather than in their offices, giving them a better understanding of a patient’s health.
