Swimmer robbed, beaten for cash
Two men jumped and robbed a swimmer returning from a dip at Sullivan Park on Friday.
The victim was walking back to his truck when the suspects confronted him, demanding the wallet he was holding in his hand and then punching him several times in the head, according to a Spokane Valley Police news release. He fell to the ground, and the suspects pocketed the cash and left the wallet.
The victim was treated for cuts over his eyes and a ruptured eardrum, the release states.
One suspect was described as a 5-foot-10 white man in his late 20s, weighing about 190 pounds with a shaved head. The other was a 5-foot-10 white man in his mid 30s, weighing about 175 pounds. He sported short black hair and numerous leg tattoos. Both suspects had “sleeve” tattoos on their arms, according to the release.

Neighbor alerts police to theives
Two men were arrested Sunday in the Edgecliff neighborhood after a neighbor said he had seen them taking power tools from a home.
According to a news release issued by Spokane Valley Police, the witness saw the two men leaving 5113 E. Fifth Ave. shortly before 4 p.m. with several power tools that the rental home’s owner had been using to remodel the house. The witness wrote down the license plate number of the Dodge van and passed it along to police.
Spokane Valley Police later located the van in the 6800 block of East Third Avenue with the two men and power tools inside.
Leonard T. Brown, 19, and Jeremy D. Denny, 32, were arrested on felony burglary charges.
