Workplace spirituality will be topic at retreat

The Ministry Institute at Mater Dei will present “Spirituality in the Workplace,” a weekend retreat at St. Joseph Family Center, 1016 N. Superior St.

It will begin Aug. 3 and end at noon Aug. 5.

Sandi Wilson, of the Gonzaga University leadership studies doctoral program, will speak; panelists will be from various workplaces.

The cost, including lodging and meals, is $180; for those who want to commute, the cost is $100.

Orthodox conference

St. Gregorios Orthodox Church will present Fredericka Mathewes- Green as part of the conference, “To the Ends of the Earth,” Aug. 17-19 at the Red Lion Hotel at the Park, 303 W. North River Drive .

Mathewes-Green, an author who writes about Orthodox Christianity, will speak at 7 p.m. Aug. 17 and at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 18.

Cost of the three-day conference is $40 per person ($35 for students). People can attend only Mathewes-Green’s talks for $10 per presentation or $15 for both.

Checks must be sent to St. Gregorios Orthodox Church, 2803 N. Lincoln St., no later than Tuesday.

Summer concert

The Episcopal Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 127 E. 12th Ave., will present Lisa Lonie, of Blue Bell, Pa., in a carillon concert today at 7 p.m.

After the recital, concertgoers are invited to tour the cathedral and meet Lonie for a demonstration of the carillon practice keyboard.

Liferoads Church, 4209 E. Pacific Ave., will present the movie, “The Empire Strikes Back,” on Friday.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.; the movie will start at 7 p.m.
