Yankees 8-2, Orioles 7-4: At Baltimore, New York finished what it started exactly one month earlier, defeating the Orioles in the completion of a game suspended on June 28 by rain. Rookie Jeremy Guthrie limited the Yankees to two runs in six innings, and Baltimore took the regularly scheduled game over New York.

Indians 10, Twins 4: At Cleveland, Jhonny Peralta homered twice and Kenny Lofton began his third go-round with the Indians by getting three hits and playing left field for the first time as Cleveland beat Minnesota.

Red Sox 7, Devil Rays 1: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Tim Wakefield allowed one run over six innings and Kevin Youkilis hit a three-run homer to lead Boston over Tampa Bay. Wakefield gave up six hits and three walks, striking out seven.

White Sox 4, Blue Jays 3: At Chicago, Jermaine Dye homered and Juan Uribe hit a go-ahead two-run double in the sixth inning to lead the White Sox to a win over Toronto. Jon Garland allowed three runs and 10 hits in 7 1/3 innings for Chicago.

Royals 6, Rangers 1: At Kansas City, Mo., Brian Bannister pitched seven shutout innings and Billy Butler hit a three-run homer as the Royals beat Texas. Bannister held the Rangers to four hits, striking out six and walking two. Bannister retired 12 straight after Sammy Sosa’s single in the third inning.

Angels 11, Tigers 6: At Anaheim, Calif., Gary Matthews Jr. broke out of a 0-for-19 drought with three run-scoring hits and robbed Craig Monroe of a grand slam, leading Los Angeles to a victory over Detroit. Jered Weaver pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing six runs and a season-high 11 hits.
