Kerr accepts Suns GM job

PHOENIX – Steve Kerr confirmed Saturday that he has accepted the Phoenix Suns’ general manager position.

Kerr made the comment on TNT during the telecast of Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals in Cleveland. Kerr has been an analyst on TNT’s NBA telecasts for four years.

“I would like to say that I am going to take the general manager job in Phoenix,” he said in a statement released by TNT.

He had kind words for fellow members of the TNT crew, Marv Albert and Doug Collins.

“I want to thank you guys and everybody in the truck and all the people in Atlanta for the wonderful experience,” Kerr said.

Kerr’s comments confirmed reports Thursday that he would take over Suns general manager duties from Mike D’Antoni, who will concentrate on coaching.
