In brief: RLM expected to get OK for campus
The Kootenai County Commission is expected to give final go-ahead next week to Real Life Ministries’ proposal to build an extensive campus on the Rathdrum Prairie, expected to include nine buildings for a total of 458,000 square feet.
Last week, the commission clarified its initial approval, saying the Post Falls mega-church can only build a 3,500-seat worship center and public ball fields until sewer service becomes available.
The commission postponed its final decision until June 14, giving legal staff time to ensure the language is clear on the conditional-use permit for the project, planned for 116 acres east of Highway 41.
The clarification followed a request by the mayors of Rathdrum, Post Falls and Hayden to delay the final decision until a $300,000 sewer master plan study for the prairie is completed by year’s end.
The mayor may appeal the decision once the commission gives final approval.
Girl Scout plans volunteer fair
A volunteer fair will put services in the community on display.
Student Meganne Holehan is helping organize the June 23 event as part of her Girl Scout Gold Award project. It’s being held at the Wal-Mart parking lot in Post Falls from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
What began as a conversation with friends and parents in her Girl Scout troop evolved into a community-wide partnership with United Way of Kootenai County, Wal-Mart, and more than 30 nonprofit agencies.
For more information on Girl Scouting or the Gold Award, contact Girl Scouts of Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho at (800) 827-9478 or visit www.gsewni.org.
