Valley Christian: How the time – in school and out – goes flying by
For the last three years I’ve attended Valley Christian School. Throughout high school I have worked hard to make good grades and excel in my extracurricular activities, and I’ve done all of this in preparation for college.
Yet, with graduation so close, I can’t believe how fast time has gone by. High school is full of talk about college. Teachers are perpetually saying, “In college this won’t be acceptable,” or fellow students are saying, “In college this won’t be such a big deal.” I think, for all of us, “college” was a long way off, and suddenly it’s not so far after all.
Senior year seems to be a blur of SATs, applications, worrying, working to finish all the little things and finally, maybe, even a little slacking off. I used to joke about one day being valedictorian. I just didn’t quite realize that the day would come so swiftly. Advice is continually given about how fast time goes, but it’s never been something that I really believed (especially in those last five minutes of school waiting for the bell to ring).
However, with my high school years at their close, I am amazed at how quickly these years have passed. I’m glad high school is over, but I am nervous to be done and to be out on my own. Graduation is a big step; the class of 2007 is growing up.
