Park programs start next week

Spokane Valley’s summer kids programs will start next week.

The city Parks Department is offering recreational programs and summer camps for children from Monday through the end of August.

“ Summer Day Camp

Camps with a different theme each week will be held for children 6 to 11 years old.

They will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Aug. 24 at the CenterPlace community center, 2426 N. Discovery Place, with free extended care available from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Campers will go on field trips, swim, play games and take part in a number of other indoor and outdoor activities.

Cost is $95 per week.

“ KinderCamp

Weekly theme camps also are available for children 3 to 5 years old.

They will take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Western Dance Hall in Sullivan Park through Aug. 17.

The camps, which cost $55 per week, will include age-appropriate games, crafts and field trips.

“ Free park programs

Mondays through Fridays, Parks Department staff members will lead arts and crafts, games and other activities for any child who wants to participate.

The programs will run from 9 a.m. to noon at Terrace View Park, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Browns Park and from 1 to 4 p.m. at Edgecliff Park.
