In brief: Skeleton found in orchard identified

The Spokesman-Review

The skeleton found in an Adams County orchard last month has been identified as that of a missing Mattawa Wash., man, sheriff’s deputies said.

Antonio J. Ramos, 20, was reported missing by his family on June 3, 2006. His remains were found May 28 by an orchard worker. Ramos had been buried in a shallow grave.

Identification was made using dental records.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the cause of Ramos’ death.

Bicyclist arrested on drug charges

A bicyclist was arrested Thursday by Spokane Valley police on charges of methamphetamine possession after he told them he was wanted on a nonexistent warrant.

Police stopped 29-year-old Timothy P. Brown early in the morning when they noticed he was biking in the dark without a headlight.

According to a police news release on the arrest, Brown said he had a warrant when the two officers asked him for his ID.

As they checked his records, police searched Brown and found a baggie of methamphetamine in his pocket, the press release said.

What they didn’t find was a warrant.

Officers took Brown to the Spokane County Jail.
