Arbor Crest sets concert, events schedule

Steve Christilaw Correspondent

Summer won’t officially arrive until Thursday, but the summer concert season already is under way at Arbor Crest.

The Spokane Valley winery started its summer event program June 3 and the series will continue every Sunday through August, with an array of musical styles scheduled throughout the summer.

Sunday night, the winery will present Singlewide, a rock/blues band. Sunday, June 24 will find Sidetrack, a rock-a-billy group, taking the stage overlooking the expanse of the Spokane Valley.

But things will make a slight change starting next month.

Beginning in July the winery, 4705 N. Fruithill Road, will institute a cover charge for the concerts, which begin at 5:30 p.m. and continues until sunset.

“We’re going to begin charging $5 per person,” events manager Shelby Enevold said. “We’re also going to begin reserving tables for people for each event.”

The winery has a pre-paid special of five tickets for $20 and offers a season pass for $50.

For the first time, concertgoers can reserve a table that seats four for $20 or one that seats eight for $40

The concert series is for adults only. No one under the age of 21 is permitted, and pets are not allowed.

As always, wine can be purchased by the glass or by the bottle, both from the tasting room or from a courtyard tasting bar, during the concerts. No outside alcohol is permitted on the premises.

That prohibition is strictly enforced. The winery is licensed to serve only its own wines.

The first concert under the new rules, July 1, features the Motown sound of Nu Jack City. The following week will feature a blues band, the Martini Brothers.

KPBX will sponsor a special Thursday night concert July 27, dubbed “A Night Under the Stars.”

The winery will sponsor two special events in August.

The Aug. 19 concert, a re-engagement by Sidetrack, will coincide with a vintage car show. The annual art and glass festival will return Aug. 25 and 26.
