Assistant fire chief named to state board

Assistant Spokane Fire Chief Brian Schaeffer has been appointed to the state Emergency Management Council.

The panel oversees the state’s emergency management system and provides an annual assessment of Washington’s preparedness for all hazards.

Schaeffer, who volunteers with the American Heart Association and American Cancer Society, was appointed by Gov. Chris Gregoire.
