101 pretty good ideas from HGTV

Scripps Howard News Service

A continuing compendium of tips and tricks from HGTV:

Kitchen design don’ts:

“ Don’t insist on the kitchen triangle. The “working triangle” philosophy of refrigerator/sink/range began in the 1950s as a ploy to sell cabinetry. Today’s kitchens work better with stations.

“ Don’t design for just one person. Even if one person is disinterested in the new design of the kitchen, get them involved to make sure it fits the needs of everyone living in the space.

“ Don’t skimp on storage. While your large appliances might be the showpieces of the kitchen, remember that you still need room for all your kitchen accoutrements, especially the unsightly ones.
