Ferris’ Jordan moves to LC
Shawn Jordan, an assistant principal of instruction at Ferris High School, has been selected as the new principal at Lewis and Clark.
Jordan will replace Jon Swett, who is leaving the school to become an executive director for secondary schools at Spokane Public Schools.
“I have a real strong passion working with kids,” Jordan said.
He said that he’s extremely honored to be chosen for his new position at LC and is looking forward to getting to know the students, parents and staff of his new school.
Jordan, 43, grew up in Cheney and with the exception of his time in college has always lived in the area.
He has been assistant principal at Ferris for three years. Before that, he worked for 13 years at North Central High School as a science teacher, strength teacher and coach.
Toward the end of his time at NC, he worked half-time as a teacher and half-time as an administrator.
Swett, 47, arrived at LC when the new building opened in 2001 as an assistant principal in charge of curriculum and instruction. He became principal of the school in 2002 and was selected as Principal of the Year for the Greater Spokane League in 2005.
Before coming to LC, he was an assistant principal of student affairs at North Central. He said that he trained Jordan during his time there.
“I have enjoyed – immensely enjoyed – every part of my career in public education,” Swett said on the last day of school. “And I anticipate loving being an executive director.”
