In brief: Jones faces two felony charges in Las Vegas

Suspended NFL player Adam “Pacman” Jones must surrender to authorities in Las Vegas to face two felony charges in a strip club melee that preceded a triple shooting in February.

Two other people police identified as part of the troubled Tennessee Titans cornerback’s entourage also will face felony charges in the fracas inside the Minxx club, Las Vegas police said Wednesday.

Clark County District Attorney David Roger said arrest warrants were being sought for Jones, Robert “Big Rob” Reid of Carson, Calif., and Sadia Morrison of New York.

“Penn State players Anthony Scirrotto and Chris Baker, ordered to stand trial for their roles in an off-campus fight, were expelled from school for part of the summer but will be allowed to take part in preseason practice.

Carolina keeps Walker

Scott Walker passed on free agency and will return to Carolina after agreeing to a three-year, $7.5 million contract with the Hurricanes.

Walker, who could have become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, will make $2.5 million a season.

“The NHL’s board of governors has elected Boston Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs as its new chairman.

The board also elected Tom Hicks of the Dallas Stars to the position of vice-chair at its meeting ahead of this weekend’s draft.

“The Boston Bruins kept quiet after a report that Claude Julien would be named their head coach today.

The Bruins called a news conference for this morning, and Canadian Press reported that Julien would be named coach.

“Without a binding agreement between Nashville Predators owner Craig Leipold and Canadian billionaire Jim Balsillie, talk of the team relocating to Canada is strictly premature, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman told the league’s board of governors in New York.

“Center Derek Roy was one of five players retained by the Buffalo Sabres after they were issued qualifying offers.

Fire fire Sarachan

Dave Sarachan was fired as the coach of Major League Soccer’s Chicago Fire following a 4-6-2 start and was replaced on an interim basis by assistant Denis Hamlett.

“Roger Federer aims for his fifth straight Wimbledon title, while Justine Henin looks for her first championship at the grass-court Grand Slam. Both were seeded No. 1.

“Robbie McEwen won the fifth stage of the Tour de Suisse cycling race in a sprint finish, and Franck Schleck kept the leader’s yellow jersey.

McEwen edged Daniele Bennati to win the 119.8-mile stage from Vaduz, Liechtenstein, to Giubiasco in 4 hours, 55 minutes, 40 seconds.

“Jim Shoulders, who built his name as a rodeo cowboy and achieved added fame as a beer pitchman, died in Henryetta, Okla. He was 79. Shoulders won 16 world championships, the most of any rodeo cowboy, and was a charter member of the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame. Years after riding his final bull, Shoulders starred with former Yankees manager Billy Martin in popular ads for Miller Lite.
