In brief: New businesses opening

Three new Post Falls businesses will open their doors in the next few days. At 5 p.m. today, the Community First Bank at 707 N. Post St. will hold a ribbon cutting and open house. Enjoy refreshments and music by The Kelly Hughes Band.

Next week, Biopol Laboratories Inc., will break ground for a new production facility, 446 S. Lochsa St. (adjacent to Buck Knives) at 10 a.m. Wednesday. And at noon, June 29, the American Academy of Nail Technology will show visitors around its new Seltice Way facility.

Parks and Rec classes

Whether you want to become a fashion model, learn to golf or trek the Northwest, you’ll find a class offered by the Post Falls Parks and Recreation Department this summer to help you get started.

The department is also hosting numerous summer camps for kids between the ages of 5 and 13. Sessions will focus on everything from creepy crawlers to field trips to various sports.

Grape Expectations

Grape Expectations, the Coeur d’Alene Symphony League’s fourth annual wine, music and auction, will be June 30, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Old Church Arts and Cultural Center, 405 William St., Post Falls. The league supports scholarship funds and orchestral needs of our local nonprofit orchestra. Tickets are $25 per person and are available through the CDA Symphony office at 765-3833 or by calling 772-5917.

Democrats rally in Q’emiln Park

Democrats in the five North Idaho counties will sponsor a rally Saturday in Q’emlin Park. The event will run from noon to 4 p.m. and feature a picnic lunch with grilled pork sausage, salads, desserts and beverages.

Suggested donation is $5 for adults; children are free. Beer will be available for purchase.

Elvis impersonator Doug Spence of St. Maries and his band will entertain. Each county will host different activities for kids. And the Democratic Store will be open. Merchandise will include newly-designed bumper stickers.

Featured guests will include Jeanne Buell, Idaho State Democratic party vice-chair, and the newly-hired Democratic party executive director John Foster.

Volleyball camp begins Monday

Registration ends tomorrow for a weeklong volleyball camp offered by Post Falls’ Parks and Recreation department. Girls and boys entering third through sixth grades are eligible to attend.

Camp will meet from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through next Thursday at Seltice Elementary School gym, corner of Chase Road and 12th St., Post Falls.

High school volleyball coaches will lead the instruction. Registration is $75 and includes T-shirts, water bottles.
