Golf notes: Strauss, Gehrman, Devine win flights
President’s Cup took precedence during two weeks of Liberty Lake Ladies Nine Hole Golf Club competition.
Karen Strauss shot a net 71 to win first flight of Cup play, including a chip-in for an eagle on the 17th hole.
Mary Gehrman netted 77 to win second flight and Bette Devine had 72 to lead third flight golfers. Emma Long had a chip-in on the second hole.
This most recent week, golfers were allowed to use three clubs and a putter. Strauss shot low gross 48 in first flight while Francis Martin and Sadie Rueckert each netted 39.
Second flight winner was Pat Thompson with 62. Carol Maycock netted 44. Third flight went to Carol Gerdt with 65 and Devine with net 38.
Audrey Vanos on No. 3 and Thompson on No. 14 had chip-ins.
Hatcher leads Trailhead
Sandi Hatcher shot a low gross 44 to win weekly Trailhead Ladies Golf Club honors.
She captured A flight with the score, while Brenda Miller shot 54 in B flight, Bev Townsend had 56 in C flight and Christine McDaniel won among no-handicap golfers with a 54.
Net leaders were Dee Elder with 29 in A flight, Joy Russell with 30 in B and Marilyn Collins with 29 in C. Townsend and Marjo Coy had chip-ins.
