Blue Jays 11, Rockies 6: At Toronto, Frank Thomas hit his 498th career home run, Matt Stairs matched a career high with four hits and the Blue Jays beat Colorado. Stairs went 4 for 5 with a homer and two RBIs and scored twice.

Cubs 2, White Sox 1: At Chicago, Ryan Theriot’s suicide squeeze against Bobby Jenks in the ninth inning drove in the go-ahead run and lifted the Cubs over the White Sox. Alfonso Soriano led off the game with a homer for the Cubs.

Tigers 2, Braves 1: At Atlanta, Justin Verlander pitched seven innings to lead Detroit to a win over the Braves. Verlander gave up a fourth-inning homer to Chipper Jones but did not allow another baserunner past second. Carlos Guillen homered for the Tigers.

Rangers 7, Astros 2: At Arlington, Texas, Michael Young had four RBIs to lead Texas over Houston. Gerald Laird hit his fifth homer of the season in the eighth for the Rangers. Jamey Wright walked six in 5 2/3 innings, while striking out five for Texas.

Giants 6, Yankees 5 (13): At San Francisco, rookie Nate Schierholtz had a two-out RBI single in the 13th inning to give the Giants a victory over New York. Alex Rodriguez hit a game-tying home run in the ninth inning for the Yankees.

Twins 11, Marlins 1: At Miami, Joe Mauer and Jason Bartlett drove in three runs apiece, and Minnesota totaled 17 hits to beat Florida. Carlos Silva limited Florida to four hits and one run in seven innings.

Brewers 7, Royals 1: At Milwaukee, Corey Hart went 3 for 3 and scored two runs to help the Brewers beat Kansas City. The Milwaukee defense turned four double plays.

Indians 4, Nationals 3: At Washington, Victor Martinez hit a three-run homer to straightaway center field in the top of the ninth, and Cleveland ended the game with an unusual 1-2-5 double play in a victory over the Nationals.

Mets 1, Athletics 0: At New York, David Wright dropped an RBI double in front of diving right fielder Travis Buck in the ninth inning, giving the Mets a victory over Oakland. Oakland stranded 10 runners on base. Billy Wagner worked a scoreless ninth for the win.

Devil Rays 4, Dodgers 3: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Dioner Navarro hit a tiebreaking solo homer in the seventh inning as Tampa Bay beat Los Angeles. Akinori Iwamura also homered for Tampa Bay. The Dodgers stranded 15 runners in the game.

Angels 10, Pirates 1: At Anaheim, Calif., Vladimir Guerrero homered to help Los Angeles rout Pittsburgh. Kelvim Escobar allowed one run and five hits over eight innings, striking out four.

Padres 6, Red Sox 1: At San Diego, Chris Young pitched one-hit ball for seven innings, Khalil Greene homered twice off Tim Wakefield and Josh Bard hit a contested homer to lead the Padres over Boston.

Diamondbacks 7, Orioles 4: At Phoenix, Eric Byrnes homered and Arizona rallied from four runs down to beat Baltimore. Jose Valverde pitched the ninth for his 24th save in 27 opportunities, and set a franchise-record with his 75th career save.
