Decision easy for Schmidt
Some decisions garner more respect and understanding than others. Case in point: Jason Schmidt of the Los Angeles Dodgers. It was obviously a difficult decision for him – let’s see, three years, $47 million and I get to see more of my children, or a five-year deal elsewhere and less family time. He no doubt lost a lot of sleep over this one. Ultimately, he made the right decision. Excuse me if I didn’t exactly get a warm, fuzzy feeling inside.
Jason Average worries about disappearing in financial quicksand. He can’t keep up with the cost of inflation. Insurance, utility, electric, mortgage – which bills can slide this month? Maybe my wife should go back to work. A second job? No! Our time with the children is too important. Soon Mr. and Mrs. Average must make many difficult decisions. Decisions I will fully respect and understand, without judgment.
