Fazekas best in WAC again
DENVER – The Western Athletic Conference men’s basketball postseason award winners as selected by the league’s nine head coaches were announced Sunday.
The first team is led by Nevada senior forward Nick Fazekas who was also voted the WAC’s player of the year for the third straight season. In conference games, Fazekas led the WAC in scoring (21.1 points per game), rebounding (10.5 rebounds per game) and shooting percentage (.571). It is the fourth year in a row that Nevada has had the player of the year as Kirk Snyder won the award in 2003-04.
Boise State’s Coby Karl, Nevada’s Marcelus Kemp, New Mexico State’s Justin Hawkins and Utah State’s Jaycee Carroll were also first team selections.
Nevada coach Mark Fox was named the Don Haskins Coach of the Year for the third straight season.
No Idaho players were selected.
