Baker, Griffitts IEL’s best
The Inland Empire League boys and girls basketball coaches have announced their all-league teams.
In the boys, Lewiston senior Shane Moser and Moscow senior Shane Miller were named co-players of the year. Joining them on the first team were: senior Nate Bligh of Coeur d’Alene; senior Ty Stoddard and junior Nick Fromm of Lake City; senior Bubba Bartlett of Lakeland; senior Brandon Haas of Post Falls; and senior Andrew Packwood of Lewiston.
Fromm also was named newcomer of the year. Coeur d’Alene coach Kent Leiss, whose team won the league and 5A Region I championships, was named coach of the year.
Named to the second team were: senior Paul Wimer of Moscow; juniors Andrew Prohaska and Nate Clinton of Coeur d’Alene; senior Spencer Pingel of Post Falls; and senior Shad Strerath of Lewiston. Named honorable mention were: junior Levi Buckles of Post Falls; senior Drake Hanson of Sandpoint; senior Austin Heleker of Coeur d’Alene; and junior Anthony Williams of Moscow.
In the girls, a pair of sophomores, Katie Baker of Lake City and Kama Griffitts of Coeur d’Alene were named co-players of the year. LC and CdA finished as 5A state champ and runner-up respectively.
Joining them on first team were: senior Richelle Fenenbock of LC; junior Deanna Dotts and senior Lindsey Stark of CdA; junior Jenny McVeigh of Post Falls; and senior Natalie Nichols of Lakeland.
Freshman Katelyn Loper of Post Falls and sophomore Whitney Heleker of CdA were named co-newcomers of the year. Chris Johnson of Post Falls was named coach of the year.
Named to the second team were: senior Jenna DeLong and sophomore Sadie Simon of CdA; senior Brittney Devorak of Lewiston; senior Riki Moreland of LC; and junior Jordan Schoening of Post Falls. Named honorable mention were: senior Lauren Bender of Moscow; sophomore Kiki Edwards-Teasley of Lewiston; junior Emma Hawn of LC; junior Kandice McArthur of Post Falls; and sophomore Camille Reynolds of Lakeland.
