Lambert honored

Washington State University freshman Connor Lambert was named Pacific-10 Conference pitcher of the week, the conference announced Tuesday.

Lambert, making his first Cougars start last Friday, pitched eight shutout innings against Air Force, allowing two hits while striking out 10.

Men’s golf

Washington State placed 15th at the USC Collegiate Invitational at North Ranch Community College Golf Course in Westlake Village, Calif.

Cougars freshman Kevin Tucker fired a final-round 75 to finish at 15-over 228, two shots ahead of WSU senior Chris Collins.

“Freshman Brandon Crick of Gonzaga and Craig Leslie (Ferris High) of UCLA shot 12-over 228 to tie for sixth place at the Braveheart Classic at Oak Valley Golf Course in Beaumont, Calif.

Women’s golf

Amanda Jacobs tied for 15th at 9-over 225 to lead Idaho to fifth place at the Spartan Invitational at Almaden Country Club in San Jose, Calif.

Kelly Nakashima and Beth Stonecypher shot 226 for the Vandals, who finished at 39-over 903, 26 shots behind the champion host Spartans.
