Morrison scores 22 in Bobcats’ overtime loss

The Phoenix Suns needed a career-high 32 points from Leandro Barbosa and 19 3-pointers – one shy of the franchise record – to escape with a 115-106 overtime victory over Charlotte Wednesday night in Phoenix, sending the Bobcats to their seventh loss in a row.

Barbosa made a career-best seven 3-pointers in 11 attempts. He made two in the overtime, the first putting the Suns ahead for good 103-100 with 3:38 left.

The Suns played the last 24:50 without Amare Stoudemire, who was ejected after drawing his second technical foul with 8:10 left in the third quarter.

Without Emeka Okafor for the sixth game, Charlotte made it extremely tough on the ragged home team.

Gerald Wallace and former Gonzaga standout Adam Morrison scored 22 apiece for the Bobcats, who have never beaten Phoenix in six tries. Wallace also had 15 rebounds.

Cavaliers 101, Pistons 97 (OT): At Auburn Hills, Mich., LeBron James scored a season-high 41 points, leading Cleveland to an overtime victory over Detroit.

Warriors 110, Nuggets 96: At Oakland, Calif., Baron Davis scored 22 points, and Golden State took advantage of Carmelo Anthony’s absence to beat Denver.

Jazz 94, Pacers 72: At Salt Lake City, Carlos Boozer had 14 points and 16 rebounds, and Utah extended its winning streak to five straight, beating Indiana.

Raptors 94, Grizzlies 87: At Toronto, Chris Bosh had 19 points and nine rebounds, and the Raptors ended a three-game losing streak with a victory over NBA-worst Memphis.

Hawks 100, Wizards 97: At Atlanta, Zaza Pachulia scored a career-high 27 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, and the Hawks beat Washington.

Heat 103, Bulls 70: At Miami, Shaquille O’Neal had 24 points, nine rebounds and a season-high eight assists, Eddie Jones added 23 points, and the Heat put together a huge second-half run to beat Chicago.

Rockets 111, Celtics 80: At Boston, Tracy McGrady had 25 points and nine assists, and Houston beat Boston to snap the Celtics’ four-game winning streak.

Bucks 110, Lakers 90: At Milwaukee, Charlie Villanueva scored a season-high 26 points to lead the Bucks to a victory over undermanned Los Angeles, which was without Kobe Bryant.

Bryant was suspended one game by the NBA for striking Minnesota Timberwolves guard Marko Jaric in the face in Tuesday night’s game.
