Religion notebook: UMC fundraising auction planned for next Saturday

Spokane Valley United Methodist Church will put on its annual fundraising auction next Saturday to help raise money for summer camp scholarships and youth and children’s programs. The theme of the event is “Get in the Game.”

The silent auction begins at 4:30 p.m., and dinner will be served from 5 to 6 p.m. The live auction begins at 6. Dinner is $6 or $3 for a child’s plate. Dessert of a brownie with ice cream is $2.

Items up for bid include a basketball signed by the Gonzaga University women’s basketball team, a basketball signed by the coach of the Miami Heat, gift baskets, vacations and sailing on Lake Pend Oreille.

St. Patrick’s Dinner

The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection’s annual St. Patrick’s Day dinner will be served at 6 p.m. next Saturday. The meal will be preceded by a social time at 5:30. The church is at 15319 E. Eighth Ave. Call 926-6450 for more information.

Catholic women’s group

Catholic women are invited to the next meeting of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Madonna of the Valley at 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church, 503 N. Walnut Road. The featured speaker is Gail Goeller, author of “Coming of Age with Aging Parents.”
