City of Spokane services update March 9-17

Northeast transmission main Phase I

Northeast Transmission Main Phase I was scheduled to start on Monday. The project will replace a 24-inch water transmission main on Freya Street from Euclid Avenue to Garland Avenue, Regal Street from Garland to Rich Avenue, Rich from Regal to Napa Street and Napa from Rich to Wellesley Avenue. Local access is maintained. For the next week, mostly residential streets will be affected, Napa from Wellesley to Lacrosse Avenue and Rich from Napa to Lacey Street will have lane closures and obstructions. Additionally, Crestline Street will be reduced by one lane in each direction.

The $1.8 million project is a Utility Match project funded by the 10-year street bond.

Lane closures

“Division Street from North River Drive to Boone Avenue will have obstructions and the east curb lane closed at each intersection from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Additionally, Boone Avenue from Ruby Street to Astor Street will have the same obstruction and closure. Qwest Communications will be doing utility work in the vaults.

“Main Avenue from Post Street and Wall Street will be reduced to traffic and pedestrians by one lane on the south side of the street through March 30. A crane will be used to replace the awning on the old Crescent Court building.

“Ash Street from Garland to Wellesley will have the left curb lane closed to traffic through the end of the month. The city of Spokane Water Department will be installing an 8-inch water main as part of the Maple/Ash street project set to begin construction this spring.

“Washington Street will be closed to traffic from Buckeye Avenue to Indiana Avenue from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each week day through the end of the month. The city of Spokane Water Department will be upgrading services to residents as part of the Washington St. rehabilitation project set to begin construction this spring. Local access will be maintained. There will be message board signs and cones in place directing traffic to alternate routes along Howard or Ruby streets. Motorists should anticipate delays.

“Traffic is reduced by one lane in front of the Fox Theater on First Avenue between Madison and Monroe streets.

Obstructions

The Street Department is busy sweeping and grading dirt streets.

Slow down for pothole repair crews. City crews have been fixing the holes and will do so as long as the weather permits. If there is a pothole in your neighborhood or on your daily route, you can report it by calling the pothole hotline at 625-7733.

Water work for the week of March 5

City water crews scheduled the following work for the coming week. Street obstructions are possible.

Water service repairs: Mansfield Avenue and Washington St.; 10th Avenue and Sherman Street; 3917 E. 15th Ave.; 2656 E. 29th Ave.; 1416 W. 12th Ave.; 1708 W. Gardner Ave.; 2820 E. 29th Ave.; 2814 E. 29th Ave.; 2720 E. 29th Ave.; 4252 E. 40th Ave.; 2007 E. Nora Ave.; and 4603 N. Stevens St..

Water hydrant replacement: Second Avenue and Hemlock Street; Second and Oak Stree;and 3500 S. Manito Blvd.

Valve replacement: Dalton Avenue and Napa Street; Washington St. and Sinto Avenue; Washington St. and Boone; Grant Street and Sprague.
