NHL : Pens beat Cans in Crosby show

Sidney Crosby and Erik Christensen scored two goals apiece, and the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Montreal Canadiens 6-3 Friday night in Pittsburgh.

Crosby’s goal 4:28 into the contest was the latest of his highlight-reel scores this season. Crosby took the puck in the neutral zone, stickhandled his way through three Montreal players and flicked a wrist shot while falling to his left to elude a fourth. The puck got past Montreal goalie David Aebischer for Crosby’s 30th goal of the season.

Ducks 5, Blackhawks 2: At Anaheim, Calif., Teemu Selanne and Andy McDonald scored two goals apiece and Scott Niedermayer added three assists to lead Anaheim to a victory over Chicago.

Corey Perry also scored and Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 31 shots for the Ducks.

Capitals 5, Maple Leafs 1: At Washington, Alexander Semin had a goal and two assists, and Alexandre Giroux scored his first NHL goal to help Washington snap a nine-game losing streak with a victory over Toronto.

Thrashers 2, Rangers 1 (OT): At Atlanta, Alexei Zhitnik scored the game-winner with a slap shot on the power play at 2:18 of overtime, lifting Atlanta to a victory over New York.

Atlanta took just 20 shots in regulation.

Sabres 3, Lightning 2: At Tampa, Fla., Jason Pominville had two goals and Ryan Miller made 35 saves, leading Buffalo past Tampa Bay .

Tampa Bay’s Vincent Lecavalier scored twice, giving him an NHL-leading 48 goals.

Sharks 3, Blue Jackets 0: At San Jose, Calif., Vesa Toskala made 35 saves for his fourth shutout during his first start in a month, and San Jose beat Columbus.

Scott Hannan added an empty-netter from behind his net with 38 seconds to play.

Morrow re-activated

Dallas Stars left wing Brenden Morrow was activated from the injured reserve list, nearly four months after he severed tendons in his right wrist during a game against Chicago.
