Rich Landers: Fishing lessons taught here

Ignorance will no longer an acceptable excuse for getting skunked on local fishing waters.

Local experts have scheduled numerous upcoming seminars on fishing techniques for this region.

Six one-hour fishing “classes” and about 20 fishing and boating vendors will pack a day full of fishing education into the 200-seat seminar room Saturday at Tobler Marina, two miles north on Hayden on Highway 95.

“Fishing University” seminars include:

“Jigging for walleye, 9 a.m., by Bob Ploof.

“River smallmouth, 10:15 a.m., by Rick Hedding.

“Coeur d’Alene chinook, 11:30 a.m. by Jeff Smith.

“Advanced bass tactics, 12:45 p.m., by Chad Kaiser.

“Preserving your trophy, 2 p.m., by John Bambacigno.

“Locating big bass, walleye, crappie and pike, 3:15 p.m., by Seth Burrill.

Mark’s Marine, 7392 Government Way in Coeur d’Alene, is featuring “Walleyes and how to catch them,” by Ted Beach on Thursday, 6:30 p.m. Mark’s spring seminar series continues with weekly seminars through April 19. Info: (208) 772-9038.

The Big Horn Outdoor Adventure Show is featuring Stann Grater, Orvis fly casting guru, at its seminar stage today at the Spokane County Fair and Expo Center. The show closes its four-day run at 5 p.m.
