Transfer stations: The inside scoop

Clean green material can be delivered to one of the area’s three solid-waste system transfer stations. Hours are from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily through Saturday. The first 100 pounds are free. Amounts over that are charged at 35 cents per 20 pounds.

After Sunday the transfer facilities will extend their hours on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays to 7 p.m. The Valley Transfer Station will stay open on Thursdays until 7 p.m. Rates will vary depending on the time of day you take in your material.

From 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., there is a minimum charge of $5 for up to 280 pounds of clean green. Amounts over the first 280 pounds are charged at 35 cents per 20 pounds. Exception: On days that the sites are open late, this rate is in effect until 3 p.m. only.

On the days sites are open late, the first 100 pounds of clean green are free from 3 to 7 p.m. Amounts over the first 100 pounds are charged at 35 cents per 20 pounds.

Senior citizens (over 62) enjoy reduced rates all hours on Monday through Friday. The first 100 pounds are free. Amounts over the first 100 pounds are charged at 35 cents per 20 pounds.
