Jacob Livingston Jackliverpoole@yahoo.com The Spokesman-Review

Q: Five people selected at random in the Post Falls area were asked: When was the last time you talked to your neighbor? What did you talk about?

Carol Sorensen, of Post Falls: “Three to four days ago. We didn’t really talk; I just said ‘Hi, how are you doing?’ Isn’t that sad? I suppose it has a lot to do with (our) schedules and how busy we all can get.”

Earl Harrison, of Post Falls: “Yesterday. (We talked about) golfing because I had hit a ball in her yard and we were talking about why I was in her yard… She was very cordial.”

Jimmy D., of Rathdrum: “That’s her,” he said, pointing to the woman in front of him. “So, right now, I guess. Actually, we were talking about Social Security, disability and why it takes so long to get it.”

Frank Hancock, of Old Town: “The day before yesterday. I butchered some beef and I offered him some fresh meat… He didn’t want any because he’s a vegetarian. But at least I offered.”

Lezlie Ferguson, of Rathdrum: “Yesterday and I talked to one today, if that counts.” (We talked) about going for a walk. I talk to all my neighbors – I don’t think I’m the norm. You might need to talk to someone else… I’m the one who hunts down the neighbors and says ‘We should be friends!’ “
