Bloomsday run helpers needed

The Spokesman-Review

Organizers of the upcoming Bloomsday run are seeking volunteers to help with check-in, T-shirt distribution and other tasks on race weekend, May 5 and 6.

“Most of our volunteer positions don’t require much, if any, prior experience, but it’s crucial that we fill all open positions to make sure things proceed smoothly before, during and after the run,” said race director Don Kardong.

To volunteer, visit www.bloomsdayrun.org and click on the “volunteers” link. E-mail the coordinator of the category you’re interested in.

“We’re especially searching for volunteers to help with distribution of runner numbers at the Convention Center on May 5 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.,” Kardong said. “And we also need a large number of volunteers to help hand out finisher T-shirts on race morning.”

Many volunteers also participate in the 7.46-mile run-jog-walk.

Race entries are being accepted at the Bloomsday Web site. Or fill out and mail in a printed entry form, available at several locations throughout the Inland Northwest.

Mailed entries must be postmarked by April 17 to qualify for the $14 entry fee. The Sports Authority’s two Spokane stores also are accepting applications until that date.
