Prep roundup: Skillingstad perfect against Tigers

Shadle Park’s Sam Skillingstad struck out all 15 batters in a five-inning perfect game as the Highlanders (17-0) routed host Lewis and Clark (1-16) 14-0 in Greater Spokane League softball at Hart Field.

This is the second time in as many games that Skillingstad has not allowed a hit. She no-hit Gonzaga Prep last Friday.

Allie Berger went 4 for 4 with three runs and Danielle Lynn added three runs and three RBIs to lead the Highlanders.

Elsewhere in the GSL, University scored nine runs in the top of the fifth and cruised past host Mt. Spokane (7-11) 14-0. Michelle Wells had two hits and scored four times, and Rickey Schiermeister and Ali Warren each added three hits to lead the Titans. Shelby Bethel picked up the win for U-Hi (14-3) after throwing four shutout innings. … Canica Hanley hit a two-run home run in the fifth and East Valley held on to beat host Rogers 6-5. Bryana Manchester added three hits for the Knights (6-11). Jennifer Knight hit an RBI triple in the seventh to bring the Pirates (5-13) within one. … Mickenzie Alden went 3 for 4 and drove in six runs as Central Valley routed host Gonzaga Prep (6-11) 14-5. The Bears (11-7) scored five runs in the top of the sixth to put the game away. … Kasara Wise hit a two-run homer in the second, leading North Central (15-2) to an 11-3 win over host Ferris (1-16). Kelsie Vallies earned the win for the Indians after striking out five in four shutout innings.

“Lela Work allowed two hits while striking out 12 in a complete game as Lake City blanked visiting Lakeland (7-16, 3-12) 7-0 in an Inland Empire League game. Chantal Waide went 3 for 4 with two runs and Haley Petersen added two hits, two runs and an RBI for the Timberwolves. Lake City (15-8, 10-7) scored five runs in the fifth, all with two outs, to cap the scoring. … Elsewhere in the IEL, Post Falls swept visiting Moscow (14-8, 10-6) in a doubleheader. Blake Meredith went 3 for 4 with two RBIs as the Trojans won the opener 8-2. In the second game, Post Falls scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth and won 12-7. Cassie Joseph went 4 for 5 with three RBIs to lead the Trojans (14-10, 10-8).

Adam Zakrezeski scored off an assist from Alex Bray in the fourth minute of overtime as Cheney topped host Lakeside (12-3, 10-3) 1-0 at Nine Mile Falls on the final day of the Great Northern League regular season. The Blackhawks (16-0, 13-0) have outscored their opponents 73-4. … Also in the GNL, Justin Fulp scored two goals, leading West Valley (5-11, 4-8) to a 5-2 win over host Chewelah (2-13, 1-11). Cody Payne and Patrick Ohmann also scored for the Eagles. … Evan McCain scored the first two goals as Pullman (11-3, 10-3) topped host Medical Lake (8-8, 7-7) 3-1. Bobby Hodge scored the Cardinals’ lone goal in the 60th minute. … Nick Davis’ unassisted goal in the 60th minute lifted Deer Park (8-7, 8-5) to a 1-0 win over host Riverside (8-6, 7-5). The Stags have won three straight games. … The league’s postseason play begins Saturday.

Golf

Mead’s Erick Henderson earned medalist honors after shooting a 68 and leading the Panthers to a first-place finish in the final Greater Spokane League match of the season at the par-72 MeadowWood Golf Course. Mead finished at 380, edging University by one stroke. The Titans’ Hank Frame placed second with a 70. For the girls, Chessey Thomas shot a 74, leading Lewis and Clark to a first-place finish. The Tigers shot a 421, followed by Mead at 449. East Valley’s Ashley Saffle took second after shooting a 77.
