Girl Scout plans volunteer fair
Most high school girls at this time of year are planning for prom and graduation; Meganne Holehan is planning a volunteer fair for North Idaho.
What began as a conversation with friends and parents in her Girl Scout troop has evolved into a community wide partnership with United Way of Kootenai County, Wal-Mart, and more than 30 nonprofit agencies. On May 19, Holehan hopes the community will attend the volunteer fair she’s been planning as part of her Girl Scout Gold Award project. The volunteer fair will be held at the Wal-Mart in Post Falls from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“I want the community to have more of an awareness of what is offered through agencies in the area that offer so many services we take for granted,” said Holehan said. “I saw a need in the community and was able to hook up with Caryl Johnston of United Way, who had the same kind of vision going on. We put our ideas together and ran with it.”
