It’s time. The annual Car-B-Que and plant sale is set for next Saturday at Opportunity Presbyterian Church, 202 N. Pines Road. The event will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Events include the Motorama car show with awards and trophies, a barbecue, ice cream, plant sale and more family-friendly activities. In years past the car show has included classics, antiques, hot rods, muscle cars and farm equipment.

The cost of food varies. Call the church at 924-9750 for more information.

Mother’s Day brunch

The Christ Lutheran Child Center at Christ Lutheran Church will host its seventh annual Mother’s Day brunch May 13. A brunch featuring Belgian waffles with fruit toppings will be served from 7:15 to 10:30 a.m. The breakfast will be by donation.

The center also will raffle off prizes, host a silent auction and conduct the popular “balloon sweepstakes” that require people to purchase a balloon and pop it to reveal a prize. Proceeds will benefit the center.

Services will begin at 8:15 and 10:30 a.m. Children from the center will sing during the second service. The church is at 13009 E. Broadway Ave. Call the center at 928-0231 for more information.
