Prayer breakfast speaker named
A Seattle attorney who has been recognized nationally for opposing gay marriage before the Washington state Supreme Court will be the keynote speaker Friday at the 46th annual Greater Spokane Leadership Prayer Breakfast.
Kristen Waggoner, a partner at Ellis, Li and McKinstry, PLLC, a general practice law firm in Seattle, will speak on “Leadership: Raising the Bar.”
About 700 people are expected to attend. Sponsored by the nonprofit Leadership Northwest, the annual event is a way for the community to thank local leaders and support them through prayer.
Waggoner, who was voted a “Rising Star” by her peers in Washington Law and Politics magazine for the last three years, received a bachelor’s degree from Northwest University and a law degree from Regent University, a school in Virginia founded by Pat Robertson and known as “the nation’s academic center for Christian thought and action.”
Besides Waggoner, guests include KXLY’s Kris Crocker; Tony Bonanzino, president and CEO of Hollister-Stier Labs; City Councilwoman Nancy McLaughlin; Lilac Queen Wylie Patton; Jon Swett, principal of Lewis and Clark High School; Col. Scott Hanson, wing commander of Fairchild Air Force Base; and Rob McCann, executive director of Catholic Charities.
The event starts at 7 a.m. at downtown Spokane’s DoubleTree Hotel. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the door or by calling Stephy Nobles Beans at (509) 777-4568.
